update 4; 22:30 - More photo’s added
update 3; 20:35

Two people seem to have been stuck in the train, the media reports one is freed. My reports say the other one is almost out as well and that these are not the severily injured persons.

The ’stationsplein’, ‘prins hendrikkade’ and the central station are off-limits. Government officials have just started their investigation in to the cause of the accident.

update 2; 20:10

The media seem have to exaggerated a little. There are now reports of 16 injuries, 2 of which are very serious. First picture is in as well

update 1; 19:30

The story is appearing in the regular news channels now. So far it seems serious although not a great disaster. First estimates are 2 fatalities and 20 injuries. Click read more for details.

Initial report; 18:50

First tentative reports are coming in about a possible traincrash on Amsterdam Central Station. I have no details so far.. only a report from the police band scanner that talks about two trains on top of eachother. The news-media haven’t said anything about this so far

Let’s hope this is minor.

Current information

The crash seems to have happened around 18:30 when an intercity collided with an empty double-leveled train. The first parts of the intercity have slided over the top of the other train and is now sticking into the air.

Firemen have started breaking trough the windows of the first carriage to free the casualties there

The power cables have cut off and all trains going to or from Amsterdam are grounded

Note: I seem to get the news about this story earlier than the news-media, so I’ll continue to update this article when I learn more.
